Malassezia in Dogs

What is Malassezia?
  A type of yeast (fungus) that naturally resides on a dog's skin, especially in moist or warm areas.

Visible Areas of Infection:

  * Ears (inner ear, especially in floppy-eared dogs)
  * Paws (between toes)
  * Groin area
  * Armpits
  * Around the mouth or eyes

Signs of Overgrowth:

  * Red, inflamed skin
  * Itching or scratching
  * Oily or greasy skin
  * Foul odor
  * Scaly or flaky patches

Ways to Prevent Overgrowth:

  * Regular cleaning of ears, paws, and skin folds
  * Keep the dog’s skin dry, especially in humid conditions
